TREKKERS

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA.png

Trekkers is an extension of UrbanPromise’s StreetLeader Program — it seeks to complement our highly successful academic initiatives with outside expeditionary learning opportunities.

We believe education requires motivation — an awakening of the childlike curiosity that is part of human nature. Trekker trips are designed to motivate students to learn from their outdoor experiences and carry that motivation back into their studies. Activities are designed to help develop students’ skills in teamwork, leadership, and decision-making.

The Six Key Elements of Trekkers are:

  • Community Service

  • Cross-Cultural Experiences

  • Environmental Awareness

  • Historical Perspective

  • Leadership & Teambuilding

  • Outdoor Adventure

Being apart of the Trekkers teams is such dream for me. I love experiencing new places and perspective, especially in the great outdoors! Getting to be apart of that journey for students and see them come alive by new places and perspectives is a gift I hope I never take for granted! I love bringing more access to outdoor adventure and I’m glad there’s a place for that in the UP community!

I am so excited to be a part of the Trekkers team! I find so much joy and renewal in exploring the beautiful world God has created. I want to be someone who provides our StreetLeaders with opportunities to see and explore the world for themselves—to discover that there is so much more beyond what they have known and experienced. My hope is to inspire curiosity, broaden perspectives, and help create meaningful experiences that leave a lasting impact.
