Sara is the daughter of Salvadoran parents and identifies as Salvadoran-American and part of the Central American diaspora. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she earned her bachelor’s in Latin American Studies with minors in Education and Latino/a studies.
In college, Sara was eager to serve students through mentorship and leadership development in her community. She served as an instructor and intern with LatinxEd. Before returning to UrbanPromise, Sara served as a teacher at a bilingual school in southern Costa Rica.
Through her prior experience Sara grew passionate working with Middle School students, witnessing them grow in their leadership, identity, and being who God calls them to be. Having served as a StreetLeader, Sara knew the impact and sustainability of the UrbanPromise model and desired to return to her home away from home.
