Christine Keitt: Literacy DIRECTOR
christine@urbanpromisecharlotte.org
Christine grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended Taylor University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Spanish. After moving to Charlotte in 2006, she earned her Master’s in Education with a concentration in Literacy Instruction from Lesley University.
Christine is grateful for the various ways she has been able to live out her lifelong desire of being a teacher. She taught 5th grade in CMS for 5 years and earned an Employee Excellence award from the district for starting and leading a parent organization for Latino families. Shortly after, Christine and her husband, Tracey, moved to Santiago, Chile, where they began an English Institute while also serving as teacher facilitators at two charter schools. They returned to Charlotte in 2017 with their three sons, Coen, Makai and Desmond (aka “Dezi”). Christine joined the UrbanPromise staff that fall.
She is passionate about empowering people of all ages with the tools they need to learn more about themselves, the world, and their ability to change it for the better. Her gratitude grows deeper each day with the opportunity she has to teach, holistically care for, and lead alongside UP's amazing StreetLeaders and campers.
