Ashley grew up in Winston-Salem, NC. She earned a scholarship to swim while completing a degree in Psychology from Clemson University. Go Tigers!
Following graduation in 2009, Ashley moved to Charlotte as a Teach For America Corps Member and taught elementary school for four years. She then went on to work in communications with Sports Friends (a ministry focused on using the tool of sport for grassroots youth development), where she served as bridge between SF’s programming in 13 countries and the ministry’s supporters around the world. Following her time at SF, Ashley served as the Director of Community Engagement at Watershed Church. At Watershed she oversaw local and global outreach partnerships and helped facilitate small group leadership.
Ashley and her husband, TJ, have been involved with UrbanPromise Charlotte since its inception, and she is excited to now serve as UP’s Development Manager. She is passionate about youth empowerment and believes that UP’s unique StreetLeader model is what makes the program so powerful and transformative!
In her spare time Ashley enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, running, and soaking up time with her husband and their two sons, Benjamin and Lucas.
